That teenage girl being mad at her parents for no reason was funny on Rosanne and The Bernie Mac show because at least those kids knew the struggle was real and had reasons for minor resentment, but watching privileged kids with no worries have attitudes is hard to connect to. I actually thought her character was intended to be a mean teen snob, especially since they had a few episode calling her out for not showing her parents respect and appreciation. She's super adorable but I didn't care for her character, I especially didn't like the way she often brushed off her parents didn't like how they would try to bond with her and she wouldn't even look up from her phone or she would just make a rude comment basically telling them to go away. I too thought the Zoey character was annoying in a dismissive, snobbish, mean girl kind of way. Grown-ish creator Kenya Barris may have to go back to the drawing board, or send Zoey back home to her parents.
